This isn't the same Fairhaven you remember!
Fairhaven is a town every REALTOR® should visit. Online, that is. With expanded scenarios, real historic context and hands-on tools, this experience goes beyond the basics, helping you deliver fair, confident services in every client interaction. NAR launched Fairhaven, a fair housing simulation training for REALTORS® that uses the power of storytelling to help members identify, prevent, and address discriminatory practices in real estate. Inspired by real stories, this innovative online experience has agents work against the clock to sell homes in the fictional town of Fairhaven, while confronting discrimination in the homebuying process. Learners will also walk in the shoes of a homebuyer facing discrimination. The training provides customized feedback that learners can apply to daily business interactions.
This innovative training platform is available to all 1.4 million NAR members at no additional cost. Be an advocate for fair housing and the future of our industry. Commit to combating discrimination in real estate.
All new members to the Association are required to complete the course, either with NAR or KRI, within 180 days of joining Bluegrass REALTORS.
At Home With Diversity (AHWD) is an NAR certification program designed to present a picture of the changing face of the real estate industry. Since 1998, the At Home With Diversity program has prepared tens of thousands of REALTORS® to work effectively with and within today’s increasingly diverse pool of homebuyers.
The AHWD course addresses the topics of diversity, fair housing, and business planning development. After successfully completing the course, REALTORS® are eligible to apply for the official AHWD certification, which conveys to clients they’re working with a dynamic real estate professional with expertise that transcends cultural barriers.
About the Course
The At Home With Diversity® Course teaches REALTORS® how to:
The mind science experts at the Perception Institute present an online workshop to help members avoid implicit bias in their daily business interactions. Drawing upon the latest evidence-based research, Perception explains how our brains’ automatic, instant association of stereotypes with particular groups can cause us to treat those who are different from us unfairly, despite our best intentions and often without our conscious awareness. Perception then applies these concepts to the everyday work of REALTORS®, and offers strategies to override bias in order to convey respect, ensure fairness, and improve business relationships.

Bluegrass REALTORS® recognized Fair Housing Month in April 2021 by providing home buying and selling resources to visitors of Julietta Market. REALTOR® associations around the country commemorated the 53rd anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act in effort to further nationwide progress toward ending housing discrimination in the United States. On Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25, Bluegrass REALTORS® hosted a pop-up booth inside the market with resources available to explain the real estate process of buying and selling and the advantages to owning a home. Members of Bluegrass REALTORS® were available to answer questions and discuss the current real estate market. In addition, information was available on how to obtain a real estate license and make a career in the industry.
As part of Fair Housing Month, Bluegrass REALTORS® (formally Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS®) provided a $1,000 grant to the North Limestone Community Development Corporation. The grant was used to help support the Julietta Market. "NoLi CDC is very appreciative for the donation from Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® to help in our efforts to improve the market for our vendors and the customers,” said Adina Tatum, director of operations for the Julietta Market. “It was also great having representatives from the Association in the market for a few days to educate the community on their options for housing." Representatives from the Julietta Market said the funds would be used for capital improvements at the Julietta Market, specifically to purchase additional food equipment for potential vendors. They will also engage in additional advertising and social media to bring more awareness to project.
