Realtors® from the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors® (Bluegrass REALTORS®) joined other local associations from across the nation for a Ring Day, an annual event where real estate professionals volunteer at as many Salvation Army red kettles as possible in their local communities.
Held the first Friday in December, the Realtor® Ring Day debuted in 2010 with a few hundred real estate professionals in Minnesota and North Dakota. It has now grown into a coordinated, national event with thousands of volunteers across most of the states.
“Realtors® are community driven and this is one way we can partner with an organization that provides so much support to people in our region,” said Kristy Gooch, president of Bluegrass REALTORS®. “Our Association has participated for a few years now and it is very heartwarming to see members across the state come together for a greater cause, especially during this holiday season.”
Dozens of members of Bluegrass REALTORS® turned out in various communities this year including Lexington, Nicholasville, Georgetown, Richmond, Lawrenceburg, Somerset and Ashland.
“People are being very generous in their giving since the pandemic essentially shut down so many great charitable efforts the last two years,” continued Gooch. “We were all in when we heard Ring Day was going to happen.”
The dollars raised at each kettle stay in the local community. The event gives real estate professionals an opportunity to support a cause that is dear to them; housing. Kettle donations also fund vital Salvation Army programs such as food, rehabilitation, and youth activities.
