The Murray Calloway County Community Foundation (MCCCF) is very excited to announce they have received a large donation recently to go towards the efforts to assist those in our surrounding communities impacted from the December 2021 tornados that displaced so many people. Realtor Community Housing Foundation (RCHF) of the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors (Bluegrass REALTORS®) has made a $20,000 donation to the Murray Calloway County Community Foundation to be used for disaster relief efforts in Graves and Marshall Counties. At this time, donations to the Foundation are being matched dollar for dollar, making the $20,000 donation double to $40,000. The MCCCF is grateful for the very generous donation from RCHF that will be used to assist the victims of recent tornados that displaced so many lives. It is wonderful see the kindness of others all across the state join in on the good cause.“One of the best parts of real estate is not only the relationships you make with your clients. It’s the relationships you make across the state and country with other agents,” remarked Janette DeWitt, President of Murray - Calloway County Board of Realtors. Janette was instrumental in sharing the MCCCF program with the Lexington Realtor groups which led to these amazing donations and their willingness to help the people impacted by the devastation in Western Kentucky. “My involvement with the Kentucky Association of Realtors has developed many friendships all over the state. When the tornadoes hit Western Kentucky the outpouring of friends checking in on us was amazing. From those relationships and in conversation with what our local board of realtors was doing started the conversation with my friend at Bluegrass REALTORS®. From this, donations were made to the foundation to the match program and our local board will pick the nonprofits that will benefit from this generous donation all because of relationships.”
More about the MCCCF Match Fund Program for tornado victims:
We are next-door neighbors to both the Mayfield-Graves and Marshall County communities and have created a matching fund to benefit nonprofits working through tornado relief. We have received amazing support from the Jan & Dick Weaver Foundation in the amount of $66,000 and an anonymous donation of $10,000 to match gifts made to this fund. Our goal is to raise $76,000 in additional funds that will be matched 1:1 for a total of $152,000. Donations can be quickly made through the GoFundMe link and all funds will go to nonprofits in the region working to assist the victims of the recent tornados.
