Randy Newsome was installed as the 2024 president of Bluegrass Realtors®. He has served the Association in many leadership positions including a nine-year directorship, was treasurer in 2022 and has held many committee roles including finance, executive, bylaws, government affairs and diversity. He previously served as president for two other local real estate associations in Kentucky – Cave Run and Pioneer Trace. At the state level, Newsome has served as a Trustee for the Kentucky Realtor® Institute (KRI) and was president in 2023. He has also been a delegate with Kentucky Realtors® (KYR) since 2005. Newsome also serves on several KYR committees including finance, meetings, strategic planning and audit where he served as chair in 2023. Newsome is a 2015 graduate of KYR’s Leadership Academy, the state association’s leadership training program. Nationally, he is a director for the National Association of Realtors®.
Beyond his work for the association, Newsome is a managing broker/associate with United Real Estate overseeing offices in Lexington, Morehead, Mt. Sterling, Paintsville and Prestonsburg. He services the greater Morehead area and specializes in residential, farm and commercial-investment properties. Newsome is involved with numerous businesses and local employers such as St. Claire Regional Medical Center and Morehead State University giving community tours for prospective employees and employers in their journeys to relocate to the area. Newsome was instrumental in the site selection process for Independent Stave Company’s two production facilities in Morehead that make barrels for the bourbon industry. These locations span over 90 acres and are home to their state-of-the-art cooperage facility and stave mill with a total regional investment north of $75 million dollars and employing hundreds of local craftspeople.
